Miss Alison McCoubrey is a Consultant General & Colorectal Surgeon at Causeway Hospital and an Honorary Lecturer in surgery at Queen’s University, Belfast. Her specialist interests include colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease & pelvic floor disorders.
Miss McCoubrey graduated with Honours from Queens University, Belfast in 2000.
She completed her basic and specialist surgical training in Northern Ireland before being appointed as a consultant, initially in the Western Health & Social Care Trust in 2013 before taking up her current post in Causeway Hospital in 2017.
Her main areas of practice include –
Investigation and management of gastrointestinal disease – Diverticular disease, Inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders (faecal incontinence, rectal prolapse, defaecatory disorders).
Endoscopy services – Colonoscopy, Flexible sigmoidoscopy and OGD.
Treatment of common perianal conditions – Piles, Fistula in Ano, Pilonidal disease, Anal fissure.
Surgery for common general surgical conditions – excision of skin lesions, ingrown toenails, inguinal hernia repair, abdominal wall hernia repair.
