Dr Thomas is an interventional cardiologist working across the Ulster, Royal Victoria and Lagan Valley Hospitals. His special interests include general cardiology; assessment of chest pain and coronary artery disease, coronary angioplasty and stent insertion; palpitations, collapses and heart rhythm management; shortness of breath and heart failure assessment and management; hypertension; valvular heart disease assessment and management; cardiovascular risk assessment; inherited and familial cardiac conditions, pulmonary hypertension associated with connective tissue disease.
Dr Thomas received his medical degree from Queens University and progressed through his postgraduate training in Northern Ireland prior to completing and interventional fellowship at Freeman Hospital, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. He received a postgraduate doctorate for his research into novel biomarkers and imaging in the assessment and management of patients with pulmonary hypertension associated with connective tissue disease.
